Records for Life
Bill & Melinda Gates Challenge: Approx. 11 million children die each year in developing countries before they reach the age of 5. In 2013, 162 million children under 5 years of age were estimated to be stunted (WHO Report). WHO claims that most of these cases were the result of poor feeding habits and recurring infections due to a lack of immunizations and poor growth monitoring.
The child health record addresses the health status of the mother and baby. Each element is composed of a modular system that has capability to operate independently as well as function as a whole.
When visiting health centers for post natal check ups, approx. 100 million of these children were recorded as having low weight/ height for age figures. Healthcare workers could use the information/ data on the Health Records for Life to provide good quality health care services to the mother and baby.
