There were three main types of communication methods used to promote hygiene and sanitation: oral, written, and visual. The community felt that the most effective form of communication was the visual method. Many people do not read or write, whereas visuals reach all age groups including children.

Comparing Humans to Animals In Nepal, the status of a person is important and it is culturally inappropriate to compare humans to animals. This approach dehumanizes people as it devalues them as individuals.    What is the difference...?? Let’s use the latrine and be known as “civilized” people.

Owning a Cellphone and Not a Latrine Let us make our community ODF. Live with self-dignity by being healthy and civilized.      Caption: It doesn't suit a person who carries a cell phone to defecate in public (carrying a mobile is a privilege in Nepal.)    In the morning I go to defecate in a private place. When the phone rings, I don't even have time to tie my pants. What kind of person are you that you carry a cell phone but cannot build a latrine?     All of my friends laugh at me and I don't know if I should laugh or cry. My daughter used to say, "lets build a latrine and be civilized." I was ashamed that I got this idea from my daughter.

Image 2: You are like a bull defecating in the open without building or using a latrine. It must be a new species of bull with two legs, I only have four. Image 3: see above poster. And what about you?
